We all want our children to become confident readers who love books, however, English is an extremely complicated language to learn and it can sometimes be very challenging. Learning to read involves a lot of complex notions that every child has to learn, this includes speaking and listening skills, phonological awareness and segmenting and oral blending. Phonics Bugs is aimed at school children who need a phonics boost. It is a programme developed by a qualified teacher and early years practitioner which follows the DfE Letters and Sounds publication. We run two classes, one which focuses on phase 2 of the letters and sounds programme and one which focuses on phase 3. We will ask you to complete a quick assessment of the letters before your child begins so that we are able to class them correctly. Our programme takes on a child centred approach that is fun and engaging. It centres around our fun Phonics Bugs characters and involves music and movement and games as well as more direct teaching. The programme is developed with parents in mind and the children will be given a pack to take home with them to continue their learning journey at home.
