The Details

The Little Coach House pre-cursive name boards cater for all children particularly those who are required to learn the cursive form of writing from reception. The font has been designed in line with the cursive handwriting taught in most UK primary schools. The cursive form is difficult for children to grasp and with the board your child can practice the movement and shape of each letter in their name in a hands on way.

As the Little Coach House boards are pre-cursive it shows each of the entry and exit lines for each of the letters. This will help your child become familiar with the way each letter in their name is formed.

The resources are based on the Montessori self-directed, hands-on approach to learning. Using our pre-cursive name boards children will build up muscle memory in their hands for when they are ready to put pen to paper. By holding the tracing stick it will help them to develop their pencil grip.

The pre-cursive name tracing boards are made from FSC solid beech wood which has been planed to be completely smooth. This means that your child can handle their name board without any worry of getting splinters from the wood. The wooden tracing stick is made from beech dowel and is designed to be similar to that of a pencil to help your child develop their pencil grip.

The wooden name boards vary in size depending on the name of your child. The width will always vary between 12 and 14cm depending the letters in your child’s name.
The beech wood dowel is always 10 cm long

Custom Options We now You have the option to combine both the pre-cursive and the cursive form of writing on one board. If you would like your child’s name in both forms please select ‘Double Sided’ from the menu option. There is an additional charge of £10 if you choose to have both forms of writing.

There are many activities that you can do with your child to help them recognise the letters in their name. They can trace each letter and then fill them with different small resources such as beads, felt balls, seeds or petals from flowers. This will also help them become familiar with the shape each letter makes.
